Wochenende

weekend.

went way...way too fast.

Sunday gave me: Francophile film night! Enjoyed a little wine, olives and cheese prior with Amanda and then met the sister and brother in law @ the museum of fine arts to watch 6 French short films. Below are my favorite 4 out of the 6:

1) Skhizein- Having been struck by a 150-ton meteorite, Henry has to adapt to living precisely ninety-one centimeters from himself. This was the first one shown and it was really good- funny, sad at the same time. He outs himsef in the path of another meteorite thinking that being hit a 2nd time will reverse his predicament, but it only makes it worse.

What i got from this one: Sometimes you just need to change, adapt, be flexible. Trying to change your circumstances instead of your attitude may only make your situation more unbearable.

2) Manon sur le bitume (Manon on the Asphalt) - The proximity of death brings a young woman a new perspective on life. When Manon has an accident while riding home on her bicycle, she lays in the street as an ambulance rushes to her. An out-of-body experience lets her see friends one by one as they learn of the event. From an oddly engaging and sweetly compelling birds-eye view, Manon discovers her life all over again.

What i got from this one: There is a part in the film when she's remembering the last thing she said to her mother and she feels regretful. As she's lying on the pavement dying, she thinks "well, i couldnt have always talked to my mother like it was going to be the last time"... You just have to tell the people you love that you love them, live life and do your best to be happy. You can't live every moment like it was your last, it would be exhausting.

3) LA SAINT FESTIN (St. Feast Day) For Victor the ogre things could hardly be worse: tomorrow is the most important of all the ogre holidays, but he has not yet caught a single child. Instead, he lost all his teeth when he accidentally fell during his last attempt at child-hunting. The dentist refuses to treat him for lack of cash, and the toy vending machine at the supermarket fails to produce the desired plastic teeth. Victor ends up being forced to digest his favorite dish as a shake. Finally he is struck by an idea: why not place all his teeth underneath his pillow and wait for the tooth fairy? Your typical "ogre-goes-vegetarian-and-falls-in-love" story.

What i got from this one: Love can make you a better person!

4) You Whom I Would Have Loved: Tragic tale of Patrice who meets the love of his life on his way to commit suicide (death by iceberg).

What i got from this one: Things are never as bad as they seem.

Capped it off with a great post-movie late night Barnaby's dinner [animated sister]

and some good talks about plans for the future.
