Dear Butter-nut & 7th floor kitchen

Thank you for making my workday a little sweeter/ warmer/toastier than it would have been without you.

Love, Ginny

Pumpkinmania!

Steps for maximum pumpkin enjoyment:

1) Find a stencil/drawing.
Step 2: Dig out all the pumpkin guts.
Step 3: Transfer drawing to pumpkin.
Step 4: Carve out the design.
Step 5: Light it up!
Step 6: salt and roast pumpkin seeds and enjoy while drinking a glass of Cabernet and basking in the glow of your new jack-o-lanterns!
Its not unnecessary killing if you eat it. :)

Wicked Witch of the..... EAST!!

BAM! done.

absolutely lovely weekend in the <3 land...

..filled with leaves falling, pumpkin carving, spooky movies, warm drinks, delicious late night snacks, smooches, window shopping, warm pubs, picture taking, the reading of scary stories while curled up on the couch and discovering secret, overgrown high-walled gardens in the middle of busy downtown Omaha.

I know I shouldn't be greedy, but I'm excited to have these kinds of things all the time. soon. (soon.)

JETPLANEZ!

Be back Sunday! Love!

good reasons.

*** : This is a little bit of a rant. This is my opinion, and am more than happy/ willing to hear alternative views and ideas.

If you get your flu shot ...
You get a delicious blue raspberry sucker.

All this controversy over vaccines: get the shot or don't, get the seasonal, H1N1, both, neither, will it kill me/ debilitate me for life?

There's a reason stories like that garner so much attention. They're not the norm. This was a freak thing, ( horrible and unfortunate) just like the 3 runners that died after running a marathon in Detroit. That doesn't mean people will stop running.

AHOTV:

"Will you take your chances with the swine flu or the vaccine? Will you take the vaccine and give it to your children? How much do you trust your government? I think that's the main question" - Glenn Beck

And Jon Stewart's response:

"I think the virus is more interested in killing you than the government is..."

Vaccines are a GOOD thing, beginning with Edward Jenner’s creation of the world’s first vaccine for smallpox in the 1790s. The life expectancy in 1790 for the US population was 34.5 years for males and 36.5 years for females. Today it's 74.37 male, 80.05 female.

Thats progress due to modern medicine. There are too many less fortunate in the world who would give anything to be offered a free vaccination for a virus they could (and many people actually do) die from.

I feel so lucky to have this offered to me. They came to me! At my work. FOR FREE. It took 3 minutes out of my day.

And I got candy.

Remedies

Sometimes the perfect pick-me-up on a gloomy, rainy day... [as seen through my office window]

is a pair of bright, banana colored peep toe heels.

Hear ye, hear ye: Saturday was ren-tastic.

Just like the day before, Saturday was absolutely beautiful: cool, light breeze, not a cloud in the sky. After watching a silent German film @ Discovery Green park on Friday night, I drove out to Cypress to relax by the fire pit with Mom and Dad as it finally got cool enough to light. They wanted to get an early start on Saturday. The Renaissance Festival is always such a good day- so much to look at, taste, smell and listen to.

It's a good day in the woods.

Festa Italiana!

Stopped by the Festa Italia on Friday afternoon for a little lunch. The day was perfect for sitting outside, enjoying a cold beer and fresh Italian food while listening to Frank Sinatra songs.

Caprese salad, artichoke hearts and rigatoni!
